Since July 2018, the Fertilizers Trading and General Trading operations have been grouped under the Trading division as part of an internal restructuring exercise. The General Trading operations were previously grouped under the Building Materials division.
Incorporated in 1969 under the name of Sasco Sdn Bhd, Hap Seng Fertilizers’ business was originally involved in the retail business of agricultural supplies selling fertilizers, agrochemicals and agricultural hardware.
Over the years, its strategic alliance with globally established fertilizer manufacturers as well as investment in expanding its network has propelled Hap Seng Fertilizers into one of the market leaders in the industry.
Already an established player in the East Malaysian fertilizers market, it expanded into the Peninsular Malaysian in 2002, establishing itself as a market leader in the trading and distribution of fertilizers and agrochemicals to the plantation industry in Malaysia.
Furthermore, it expanded regionally into Indonesia in 2004, via its subsidiary PT Sasco Indonesia to market and distributes fertilizers and agrochemicals in Indonesia and China, via its subsidiary Sasco (China) Co., Ltd in 2016 for fertilizers in China and globally for exports to regional and global markets.Today, it has 14 strategically located warehouse facilities, of which eight are in Malaysia and six are in Indonesia and handles more than one million metric tonnes of fertilizers and two million litres of agrochemicals per annum.
Hap Seng Fertilizers supplies and trades in a wide range of fertilizers that include muriate of potash (MOP), ammonium, sulphate and rock phosphate. In addition to its main products, it also distribute other fertilizers requirements such as urea, natural kieserite, fused magnesium phosphate, tri super phosphate, ammonium sulphate nitrate, copper sulphate, zinc sulphate and borate.
Hap Seng Fertilizers operates its own NPK granulation plant in Lahad Datu, Sabah with a production capacity of 50,000 metric tons per year. Committed to product excellence, "NAGA" is a NPK brand well known in the Malaysian market.
The General Trading operations supplies a diverse portfolio of building material products, which include steel bars, cement, tiles, iron & metal, building chemicals, interior fittings, sanitary ware and petroleum products. The General Trading operations caters to the building contractors market through its network of 7 branches and warehouses - 4 in Sabah, 1 in Johor, 1 in Penang and a main office in Kuala Lumpur.
